My Own Little Happy Dance

On Friday, I received a delightful email from Krista, letting me know that in the next few days, a post I wrote is to be Freshly Pressed.  My short flash fiction piece with the completely boring name of Wkly Brief – Foreshadowing Challenge had caught a Word Press editor’s attention and will be featured on their Freshly Pressed page.

I was writing code in my tiny cubicle at work when this wonderful news appeared miraculously on my cell phone. I was surrounded by quiet, serious workers, doing serious work, very quietly. So I had to do a very silent happy dance.  Picture Snoopy, head up and feet tapping and you’ve got the image. I could even hear Schroeder’s piano pulsing through my cubie.

But then, for one brief moment I felt a twinge of guilt. After all, one of my first contacts, Don Charisma, hosts the “Not Featured on Freshly Pressed Awards”, so I felt a bit disloyal; a traitor to my earliest WordPress friends.  But I got over that. Especially after I did a search for Freshly Pressed and there was Don Charisma’s blog.

So, I did the Snoopy dance again.

Before I let you go, I also want to tell you that my first official piece of flash fiction is being published this Wednesday by The Birds We Piled Loosely, a self-described “Lit Rag dedicated to poetry, flash fiction/nonfiction, and whatever else impresses us.”

And the Snoopy dance continues…

LOL, no need to feel disloyal, I’m happy for anyone who made it onto freshly pressed, said that in the award itself … anti-establishment wasn’t the point, laughing at myself was, which is why I think it was so popular 😀

  4. CONGRATULATIONS! I’m doing a happy dance for you right now :).
